The Daily and Weekly Rituals of High-Performing Teams

Hey Reader,

Every couple of weeks, you get a little piece of advice or a story (or as I like to call them - little love notes) from me packed with founder-tested insights, behind-the-scenes lessons, and simple strategies to help you lead with more clarity, calm, and intention.

If you’ve been here a while - thank you.
And if this is your first edition - welcooome! Grab your favorite drink, take a breath, and let’s get into it.

People who know me personally, know that I deeply appreciate music, dance and rhythm and I take that energy and transfer it in every area of my live. There’s something powerful about rhythm - in dance, in life… and yes, in teams.

You know when you walk into a team meeting and everything just clicks? People are prepared, updates are crisp, blockers are clear. And there’s no sense of panic - just quiet momentum. That's the feeling of having harmony and rhythm in the team. And that comes from rituals (not the beauty brand, even though it's great).

Whether I’m supporting a founder as their second-in-command or helping a team align and become more effective, this pattern holds true: High-performing teams design how they work. Together.

So today, I want to walk you through the daily and weekly rituals I’ve seen transform fast-paced, overloaded teams into calm, focused ones. I won't go into the deep waters of SCRUM, but I'll share a couple things that are simple and everyone can use. These aren’t theoretical frameworks. These are the things real teams do - teams who ship fast, collaborate better, and sleep at night.

Daily Rituals

Small Habits, big Impact high-performing teams begin their day with clarity.

1. The 15-Minute Stand-Up Not the 45-minute “update vortex.”

Each person answers:

  • What did I complete yesterday?
  • What’s my top priority today?
  • Am I blocked on anything?

Short, quick and clean.

2. Quiet Start Time

You know those mornings where you just want to breathe before the noise starts? This gives you and your team that. Block the first hour of the day. No Slack. No meetings. You create the ritual that works for you best. For instance, for me - a 2 hour walk with the dogs each morning with no social media and then a little music and a happy dance does the trick. Maybe a quiet hour for yourself in the morning would be something you enjoy?

3. Daily Sync for Leads (Optional)

If your team’s bigger or cross-functional, this can work wonders. A short, 10-minute check-in for team leads to flag blockers and keep things aligned.

Weekly Rituals

Daily habits keep you steady. Weekly rituals realign the compass.

1. Weekly Kickoff (30 mins, Mondays) will set the tone early.

When I was working as a full-time COO at Generation Success we had one of these with the team leads each Monday. And it kept us on track.

During these meetings, we asked:

  • What are our 2–3 key priorities this week?
  • What risks are we watching?
  • What needs cross-team collaboration?

If you are a CEO or a founder, bonus points if you join once in a while - it reminds the team what they’re building toward.

Now, you can also use the daily sync for leads, but you don't have to. If you don't do dailys and you feel there is a need for you to do one more check-in towards the end of the week - by all means, go ahead and do it. But be careful not to bury yourselves into a lot of meetings. Too many meetings is not the best and sometimes it has the oposite effect.

Why This Works

Rituals might sound rigid - but they’re actually freeing. When your team doesn’t have to waste time figuring out how or when to sync, they can focus on the work itself. Rituals reduce decision fatigue. They build trust. They make communication smoother and expectations clearer.

And for founders and CEOs? They reduce that mental weight. You’re not chasing updates. You’re not firefighting 24/7. You’ve built a system that moves forward - even when you step away.

So, if you’re scaling, growing a team, or just trying to stop feeling like you’re “doing everything, all the time”… Start with rituals.
